Today’s the first day of classes! I’m just taking the normal plebes classes: Calculus 2, Chemistry 2, Seamanship, Leadership, Naval History, English, and swimming. I have four classes today so it shouldn’t be too bad. Some people already have homework before they’ve even stepped foot in class.
But first! I should recap yesterday’s workout for Bubba since it’s a must for him. We ran to this bridge which we like to call the “Oh Shit Bridge.” It’s called that because as soon as you drive over the hill, you have a beautiful view of the Yard and think to yourself “…oh shit, I’m back.” Once we got to the bridge, we “sprinted” to the top and jogged back three times. And then ran back. Towards the end of the workout, I couldn’t feel my feet anymore and it was quite a great feeling. It was exhilarating because that was the first time I felt that my pacing and breathing were actually in accord. Great workout!
The Alpha inspection cleaning has been going pretty well. Our floor is nice and shiny, but we usually walk around without shoes so the floor doesn’t get scuffed before the inspection. The inspection is tonight so we’ll see how it goes.
I’ll do my best to write in here throughout the day so I can keep you in the loop with all the fun/funny/interesting things that go on here. I’ll even try to add pictures with my webcam!
Okay.. so I just finished my first day of classes! WOW! I’m so glad I have Naval History last because there is no way I will fall asleep in class. My teacher reminds me of Dr. E, and I am definitely thankful for that. The way he enunciates his words and the statements he makes actually forces us to think. We have a 2 page paper due on Friday about how we got to the Naval Academy, but it’s beyond just that. We have to analyze the causes in depth, causes that are in and out of our control. I wish I could possibly give an example of the lecture we had in class that Prof O’Connell presented but there is no way. The introduction class was more than amazing. Anyway, I feel as though I have some great teachers this semester. Hopefully the motivation remains until the end, because believe in or not, I am practically finished with my homework for the day and it’s not even 4 yet.
Look at what I found while cleaning for the alpha inspection! This is the only thing I’ve ever won from a toy grab machine. Too bad it’s so hideous.
